Rene hung the last of the party decorations over the door and quickly put the ladder away. The tables were set with various edibles, the curtains were crisp and ironed, the paper decorations were festive and cute, and the year was about to change.

2017 though? What a strange number. She wondered what their calendar was based on. No matter, a celebration was always a good time.

The quotes are imaginary, but the intent is easy to pick up. He sets her to her feet with a light kiss.

"But, drinks first. Punch? It's probably spiked. Not my job to check anymore." He grins.

"Sounds like a plan to me!" she said with a bright smile, taking his hand and leading him to the snack table, where she quickly grabbed them some glasses. "Well, guess we'll figure out if it's spiked soon enough, right?" she laughed. "What's the worst that could happen?"

"Oh, you know, didn't really think much on it. Was looking more towards making sure things were set up right. Nothing like a dull display to dampem the moods sometimes so I wanted things to be good you know?" she smiled back a tad timidly but honestly nonetheless.

"You however.... Y-you look stunning as usual."

"Wherever there's gloom and doom I tend to follow. Stick to your kind, follow the most familiar winds, whatever you might want to take it as. Maybe you're just misfortunate to be in the same locations as I tend to wander to. Maybe fate's just a bit messed up like that." Not really giving a response, she shrugged and crossed her arms, still relaxed.

"Yeah, I totally get it," Shantae said with a smile of her own. Then she winked. "But if you WANT to dress up, I think maybe I can help... We've still got time for it~" she suggested coyly.

A giggle. "Thanks! Glad you noticed!"

Riwane laughed and shook her head. "Well, dunno nothin' 'bout being able ta take on anythin'. But you sure bet yer ass that we'll damn well try!" And that was the truth!

"Hmph. I suppose it is." A moment of silence... "Although I suppose I could have worse company," he added quietly.

"O-oh no, I'm f-fine really," she shifted in place nervously. "B-but thanks for the offer!" Alone time with Shantae seemed like a perfect little thing to brighten her mood but she didn't want to take up her time when she should be enjoying herself and she honestly was fine like she was.

"Hard not to," she replied with a small sheepish smile.

"And that's the important part," he added with a grin. "But enough sap! Let's ring out the old year in style! Anything you wanna do before the clock ticks over? Now's the time!" he suggested brightly.

"You sure? I think I've got just the thing!" Shantae suggested with a small smirk. "I could make you look ALMOST as amazing as me!" She leaned in closer. "What do you say?"

"Exactly." He accepts a glass from her and takes a drink.

And for a perfect millisecond, he actually holds it in his mouth like a bearded chipmunk, as he tries to pick through the melange of liquors he just ingested. After a gulp, he shakes his head at the glass.

"I think it's more spike than punch, now. Where are people getting this stuff? We're on an island, aren't we?"

Gordon asks the hard-hitting questions, but it's obvious he doesn't mind the drink as he takes another sip.

Shantae took her own sip, and after she swallowed, she coughed hard. "WOW that's strong!" she said. "What the heck's IN this stuff?!"

And yet Gordon had another sip. She was quiet for a moment, then just shrugged. When in Rome... She lifted the glass and took another long drink of the spiked punch. She could handle it! At least she thought she could...

He scoops a pair of drinks off the table and offers her one.

"That wouldn't happen to be why you kissed me the way you did, would it?" Said quietly and without accusation. "Not that I didn't enjoy it... it was just surprising, is all."

"It... would be, yes," Rosalina agreed, taking the cup gratefully. "I should not have done it, and I deeply apologize for my... untowards behaviour. Although... I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it. Or that the thought of it happening again didn't... excite me in a shameful way."

Shifting in place a little, Ronnae looked away. "I don't know, really... It's okay. I'm fine and besides shouldn't be out and enjoying the festivities? Looking so amazing can't just be for hanging out and dressing up others." Excuses Ronnae, excuses.

"Worse than me? You don't say?" She smirked slyly. "Now I wana know exactly who or what. I mean, other than humans or something."

"Your guess's good as mine hun. Plenty ta do, just a matter of what first." She grinned, "I s'pose you can pick first then, jus' this once."

"And I will have fun!" Shantae said. "But doing something nice for a friend is always worth it! Besides, Gordon isn't here and we have plenty of time before midnight! Let me work my magic on you!"

Jolt smirked devilishly. "Well, I've got a few ideas... But they might be better to save for later in the evening," he teased with a grin. "Might not wanna come back after them!"

"Don't read too much into it," Mewtwo scoffed. "I have nobody specific in mind. I simply mean there are worse ways to spend my time."

"As much as I'd luv sum time alone jus' the two of us in celebration. I'm thinkin' it'd be nice ta hang 'round with our folks at least till the time drops to tha new year y'know?" She did smirk back. "Afterwards though, fair game fur anythin' else." she winked.

She was pretty persistent wasn't she? But then again that was one of her very attractive qualities, at least to Ronnae. Valuing conviction and that hardheadedness common in heroes was something she liked a lot.

With a heavy sigh and a small smile afterwards, Ronnae shook her head and shrugged in defeat, "You're not gonna say no huh?" she had to laugh a little. "Fair enough, I... I guess we can."

Gale had to chuckle and raised a hand in mock toast. "Ditto here, much worse fates I guess. If I gotta be stuck seeing the pack of rats having a good time, at least I can grump with you huh?" she grinned.

"Quieres par de snacks sweetheart?" Oh no you don't, no one leaves this party hungry even if you already have snacks while Mawrow's around. She offered a tray of more savory appetizers like stuffed potato skins, creamed mussles and bacon wrapped chicken nuggets.

"A big boy like you can't eat just that?" She pointed and smiled, no malice behind her words, just someone who seemed to enjoy caring for others. "Oh no mijo, tu tienes que have more okay?"

"Yes! You are not gonna regret this!" Shantae said eagerly, taking her hand and quickly leading her away from the party. Back to the living area in the mansion they went, the genie girl having an eager skip in her step as they went. Shanate already knew the way to Ronnae's room, and headed right there, practically pushing her in and shutting the door behind them. "All right!" she said, clapping her hands together and going to open some of Ronnae's drawers. "First things first, take off your clothes. All of 'em," she instructed as she started to pick out a few things.
