Rene hung the last of the party decorations over the door and quickly put the ladder away. The tables were set with various edibles, the curtains were crisp and ironed, the paper decorations were festive and cute, and the year was about to change.

2017 though? What a strange number. She wondered what their calendar was based on. No matter, a celebration was always a good time.

And when they stopped, Jolt was finally allowed to catch up with her. He brought his arms around her, kissing her softly. "And I love you, Riwane," he replied, smiling at her with such admiration.

"Hmph. I wish I could say that was an uncommon story with humans," Mewtwo said. "But if I did, I'd be lying. I am sorry for your loss."

Ujarak smiled, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear and stroking her cheek softly with a large finger. "I was just thinking the same thing," he told her. "As I said... The night is still young. And if you were willing, I would be honoured to spend it with you." The suggestion left open a world of possibilities that he didn't elaborate on and left to her imagination to ponder.

Shantae nodded with a bright smile, taking hold of her shoulders and turning her towards the mirror. "You look incredible," Shantae said happily. "You're gonna knock 'em dead when we get back to the party!"

"Good, don't you forgit it now," she joked with a joyous laugh and a tight hug linked to a quick kiss. She grabbed his hand and started to drag him away. "C'mon now, I wana see the show from up high. Maybe one of them nice balconies."

Gale shrugged, trying to act like it didn't hurt, and that she didn't appreciate it, but at that time it was hard to do so.

"Yeah, well, I'm not letting something like that happen again." Not while she could help it.

"And spend it you shall," she laughed a bit. "Barring alguien que me necesite you know?" Because she'll always be the type to help others before her.

"But until then? Soy toda tuya." she chuckled a bit at her own playful flirting. She was feeling younger than she was at the moment and that was super fun.

"Can they just be knocked away and let me just meld in the back instead of being dead?" she half-joked, half-wished.

Nonetheless, she did smile a little and turned back around to hug Shantae... And then kiss her because that was a natural reaction you know? Pressed, soft kiss and then she quickly backed away looking a bit stunned at herself.

"S-sorry, sorry! Don't know... I... I got caught up in the moments. I'm really sorry..."

"Won't get any objections from me," he laughed as he followed her along, back up into the mansion, up the stairs, towards one of the balconies opening up near the roof. An excellent vantage point for anyone who wanted to observe the party below, or the fireworks that were going to launch up above.

"Good. We cannot allow ourselves to continue to be victims," Mewtwo replied. He felt like perhaps putting a hand on her shoulder, but... He just wasn't that kind of mon.

He had to admit, he was feeling much younger than his age himself, and it was a wonderful feeling. He dipped in and kissed her again warmly. When their lips parted, he chuckled, giving her a bit of a squeeze tighter against him. "I'm glad to hear that," he said quietly. "Because once this party is over, I intend to steal you away all for myself for the rest of the night," he added huskily and with a knowing look.

Shantae's eyes widened at the kiss. She was quiet when it finally parted, and she stared mouth agape for a few moments. "...No... No, it's okay," she said when she finally got her senses back. "I just... Heh! Well, you really wanna know, I thought for sure you'd end up kissing Gordon before you kissed me," she said, trying to lighten the mood, and smiling again. "It was nice."

Ronnae's face was a flurry of emotions, but most visible was embarrassment. "Really? I mean... The thought did cross my mind a few times but... Honestly it always felt more like he saw me as a comrade, a partner in the lab maybe sometimes a friend? But never more than that I mean, other than well, the fancy most people would tend to have. So I guess I never really gave it much thought other then the passing image of it." And she sometimes felt like she felt herself trying to show that she was adept at what she did for some reason.

After her little rant however she realized that Shantae had said it was nice and that put her heart a bit more at ease... At least she didn't ruin the friendship she hoped. Looking away for a bit, she stayed silent for a while.

Oddly enough finally finding a second to sit down, Riwane relaxed back on one of the lounge chairs that some students had brought up to the balcony and stretched.

"Ah~ So nice outside actually. The air is nice an' chill an' the sky couldn't be any gosh darn more clearer fur perfect fireworks."

Good move Mewtwo, it saved you the punch you'd get from her.

"Yeah, screw that."

A moment of silence to let her get back to today and she felt curious about something.

"So, what about you? What did those fucks do to you?"

"Oh my Señor Uja, you're pretty straight forward huh... Pero no me quejo." she laughed heartily and relaxed against him.

"It'll be a good year. I can feel it." If tonight was any indication.

Shantae could see Ronnae was bothered by what she had done. She didn't particularly MIND, but really, this was something she wanted to discuss with Gordon before acting on anything. But one thing was for sure, Shantae had to put her friend at ease.

She did that by throwing her arms around her from behind. "Hey, it's okay," she said reassuringly. "I've just gotta talk to Gordon. You know, before I do anything else about it?"

Jolt pulled up one of the other lounge chairs to join her, and sat back with his arms crossed behind his head. "Aaah. Yep. Perfect firework weather! Just hope they don't blow up the courtyard or something like that!" he joked with a laugh.

"Hmph." Mewtwo scoffed for a moment, crossing his arms. "They created me."

"Beating around the bush gets you nowhere in life," he explained himself with a smile, holding her against him. "I've learned that if there's something you want from life, you need to make it known, or you'll miss out on so many things..."

He chuckled. "And it's only just begun."

"Yes it has," Mawrow smiled. Soon enough the fireworks would start and she'd have a fine new friend to ring out the year with. If it wasn't apparent, she was pretty happy and enjoying herself tonight.

Before I do anything else about it? What WAS there to do she wondered. Nothing in her mind, it was an in the moment kind of thing and now that it had happened Ronnae only feared the worse. But it'd be even sadder if she held up her friend because of her dumb mistake and they both missed the festivities.

"I... It's okay, I feel we should probably head back. You... go on ahead, I need to pass by the stage to make sure the final preparations are set. It's almost time." She gave a small smile of reassurance hoping she'd believe that she was at the very least okay for the moment which technically she was.

Riwane pulled up a few drinks she had snuck away from the party and passed one over to Jolt. "To a great new year." she held her own in toast fashion, looking over at Jolt with a bright smile as the timer counted down closer to midnight.

Gale was confused for a moment, looking at him with a brow raise. "Created you? As in made you who you are or?" Or more literal in the sense that they somehow were able to create a Pokemon and if so, then the myths and heresay were real and there really was a created Pokemon.

"I know. The fact that you care so much is part of what I like about you. Beyond the obvious, of course... Anyway, I think the two of us can handle a little constructive interference."

He chortles at his own little science joke, and before he gulps the rest of his punch, he adds hastily: "Just uh, don't be surprised if she says that she's interested in you too--"
