Winter months were always dreary, especially if it meant being stuck inside to get away from the cold. Sure, some might not mind it, but others did. Luckily, there was someone around. Someone who had made it her mission to get people to smile and be happy.

That someone was Princess Peach.

Maybe you'd come for a snack, maybe you just wanted a quiet place to eat and read. Regardless, when you entered the dining hall, Peach was there, decked out in her finest, and she'd commandeered the space. There was pink everywhere. Ribbons, tablecloths, curtains, you name it. She was brewing pots of tea in elegant china, and she had plenty of blends to choose from. Plates were filled with cookies and cakes, that she'd spent hours baking herself. "Welcome!" she would greet people with a smile. "Please, come and have a seat! The party's just starting!"

While he could do without the opulence, Cyrus did find solace in tea. He picked up a pot and sniffed at it, drawing in the delicate scent and warmth rising from it.

Party time! Rene was just happy she wasn't the only one doing this sort of thing. Oh, and what a pretty dress!

She approached the hostess. "This is a nice party," she said. "And you did this all yourself?"

"Princess Peach, daaaahling~! It's been ages!"

Unsurprisingly, Flurrie makes her presence known in the biggest, loudest way possible.

"We've simply got to catch up! What've you been up to lately, dear?"

Well, he was certainly... quiet, Peach thought as Cyrus didn't even acknowledge her before going to sniff at the tea she had been brewing. "Ah... May I interest you in a cup?" she offered. "I have several blends to choose from, if you have something you'd rather have instead!"

Peach beamed happily. "Yes! I certainly did!" she explained. "I thought it might be nice for us all to enjoy each other's company and relax! And nothing makes me relax quite like some tea and cake!"

Well! Peach wasn't about to NOT hug a friend! When Flurrie came up to her, Peach smiled broadly and reached out to hug her tightly. "Madam Flurrie! It's been so long! How have you been? How has your musical career been going?"

She tapped her chin thoughtfully. "It's the strangest thing... I was in my castle one moment, and the next I was in front of this mansion! It's been a few weeks since I've been here, but it's been rather comfortable... The people here are so nice!"

"I'd love to get some baking tips sometime." Rene helped herself to a cupcake. "These look delicious. I can do stuff like cook and preserve but baking is another story."

"It has been a while," Cyrus mused, setting the pot aside to turn and stare at Peach. "I have not seen tea in this place for months. Perhaps ever. You are a leader and yet I have not seen you in some time either." Segue? What segue?

"I'd be happy to," Peach answered with a smile and a nod. "But for the moment, do help yourself to some treats, and to some tea! If you don't find anything you like, I can brew another pot in a snap! Tell me, what do you like cooking the most?"

"Well, I have my resources," Peach giggled happily. Making people smile was her business. And business was good. "Why yes, I am! Princess Peach is my name. I've only been here for a few weeks, and I've been trying to find a way to make myself useful!"

Turing was still getting used to the ins and outs of the mansion. Without being connected to the mesh, they couldn't help but feel lost in even the most straight-forwarded of places, including this gigantic mansion in the middle of...well, they weren't sure. They had a feeling they weren't in Neo-SF anymore.

Still, turning a corner and finding a room decked out in pink and pastries was a nice surprise, even if they couldn't actually try all of the cookies themselves.

After looking around intently, their gaze fixated on the pink princess with interest. "What's the occasion?" they asked.

That was strange. He was certain they had met before. But that seemed to happen from time to time. Suddenly someone would lose all their memories, alter their histories...

"My name is Cyrus. I was previously the ethics teacher."

"Uh..." Rene thought for a moment. "I don't know. Making sausage is fun. Kinda gross if you make it from scratch, but I haven't done that in a while." She peeled the wrapper off of the cupcake before trying a taste. "Wow, that's good!"

"Good thing I'm here then! We can get it started! Sooooo, uh... what's going on?"

Sonic's always up for a party, although one look at all the pink has him second-guessing his party-first-ask-questions-later philosophy. He's playing it cool, however. It's just pink. They're just ruffles. It's just cake...

"Oh wow!"

Lucca, indeed, just wanted to sit and read, but the mountain of pastries she happens across in the kitchen isn't underappreciated. She looks rather out-of-place with her massive book on magitech circuitry amidst the ruffles and elegant munchables, but she lets herself be drawn in anyway.

"Did you really make all these!?"

"Ethics teacher?" Peach asked curiously. "You worked at a school?" Clearly she didn't know about the old academy, from the way she was talking.

"Perhaps, but I'm sure the end result is quite tasty," Peach suggested. She giggled at the sight of Rene enjoying her cupcake, and beamed happily. "I did!" she explained. "I've been baking up a storm since last night getting everything ready! I'm so glad you enjoy it!"

"Oh!" Peach exclaimed, spotting the robot finally, turning from her table of goodies. "Oh, no occasion," she explained. "I just wanted to do something nice for everybody, that's all!"

She leaned over closer. "What's your name?"

Peach looked over... and let out a loud squee of delight. "Oh my GOSH you are SO CUTE!" she exclaimed, leaning down to get a better look at the new arrival, smiling broadly. "I'm just throwing an impromptu party! Tea, treats, and company! I'm Princess Peach. What's your name?" she asked eagerly.

So much pink.

"I certainly did!" Peach said with a smile, going to welcome her in with a hand on her shoulder. "Do come in! Take a load off and enjoy! Do you like tea?" she asked.

"Oh! How thoughtful of you!" Turing exclaimed, their face brightening up slightly. "Parties like these should be able to draw a crowd. I haven't seen anyone else around this labyrinth of a mansion besides you, so I hope this will entice the other residents here." Maybe the other inhabitants could give them some answers on their whereabouts, but then again, so can this regal-like woman while they wait.

"Oh, before I forget, my name is Turing. What's your name?"

"--I'm cute!?"

...

"I mean uh, I'm Sonic! Sonic the Hedgehog. I came down for a snack, actually. Now that you mention it, tea doesn't sound that bad either."

Far be it from him to turn down free food, although he isn't sure about the way she's eyeing him... it reminds him a little of Amy.

"You certainly are!" she repeated with a smile. "I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself... It's a pleasure to meet you, Sonic! Please, why don't you have a seat?" she offered politely, although she really just wanted to hug him right then and there. She could resist. "I have plenty of treats, so by all means, help yourself!"

"I sure do! All kinds of tea. And that strawberry shortcake looks great too!"

"Well then, let me pour you a cup while you help yourself!" Peach told her, leading her to the table to have a seat. "So, why don't you tell me a bit about yourself? I'm Princess Peach! What's your name?" she asked with a smile, gently pouring a cup of tea for Lucca.
