Rene hung the last of the party decorations over the door and quickly put the ladder away. The tables were set with various edibles, the curtains were crisp and ironed, the paper decorations were festive and cute, and the year was about to change.

2017 though? What a strange number. She wondered what their calendar was based on. No matter, a celebration was always a good time.

As Ronnae looked at the dress, Shantae beamed. "Absolutely! I've wanted to give this to you for a while now, but then the whole crisis happened... I actually found it recently! I bought it back before we all ended up here, and found this made it here too! So... I want you to have it. One best friend to another!" she said, holding out the dress for Ronnae to take.

Not according to Mewtwo. But he didn't need to say it. Dark's resistance to Psychic meant he couldn't just prod into her mind the way he normally would. It was... a unique experience to get to know someone in a way other than getting it all at once in his head. "Indeed. Would that it were so easy to liberate all Pokemon everywhere..." He shook his head. "But that's a dream."

"Honest and lovely... A wonderful combination," he said with a smile, sliding his other arm around her as well, letting her enjoy the moment held against his warm muscular frame. "Whatever else the evening may bring, I already feel fulfilled sharing your company."

"Are you trying to woo me here Mr Uja?" she responded coyly and yet unable to push back her laughter. She does however step on her tip toes and still fails to reach all the way to him which makes her laugh some more before she lowers her voice some. "I am thinking it's working, un poquito at least." she chuckles.

He actually surprised her a bit with that move which made her feel ecstatic. A burst of cheerful laughter escaped her lips and her tail flame only grew stronger leaving a trail of fire in the air that made it seem a bit surreal in the dance floor. After a beat, she practically slithered around his body to stand beside him and smile before going back to dancing.

"Not bad Sparks, not bad."

He lowered his head closer to her to help close some of the distance between them, smiling warmly. "I think I just might be, Miss Mawrow... I hope that's not a problem," he replied quietly. "I can't seem to help myself here."

"I... I d-don't know what to say..." She reached out and grabbed it gingerly.

"T-thank you Shantae, this means a lot to me..."

"A dumb dream," she retorted back. "A fool's errand anyways... Just look at them." she pointed. "You seem like you've been observing a while, do you really think they'd WANT to be 'liberated? They've already become sheep, most of them."

"What can I say? I felt inspired," he teased happily, taking hold of her hips as they danced together. "It's nice to have friends who keep you on your toes!" he joked.

"Then it was all worth it," Shantae said with a beaming smile. "Now c'mon, let's get you into that before you spring out of that bra!" she joked with a laugh, getting behind her to help her get the dress on.

That did bring a very slight blush to the dark skinned marowak which was surprising for one of her experience and general attitude. "Not a problem at all Señor Uja," she voiced back in hushed tones. "You've been a darling, un amor all night to me so far. Esta señora very much appreciates the kindness and attention."

"To be able to rescue them from a life of servitude... I don't think that's a foolish dream," he said. "But still... A dream nonetheless." A glance back at her. "You do not seem to be one who believes in dreams one way or the other."

"The pleasure is all mine, Miss Mawrow," he said, lifting a curled finger under her chin to lift her head closer to his. "And the night is still young..." His lips were so close that one of them could easily close the gap for a kiss.

Being influenced a lot by novelas, Mawrow believed in the first move be done by the opposing party as long as the notice of approval was there. Judging by the light smile and closing of eyes, it seemed she was more than ready for a new year's smooch.

Ronnae laughed a bit alongside her but her face reddened a bit. "Are you sure I won't spring out of my dress while at the festivities? B-because I'm pretty sure I'd die of embarrassment..." Really, she would!

"I've had my fair share of failures and broken dreams and promises to have given up on believing in hope." she stated bitterly. "Now I just do my thing when and however I want to."

"Or partners who can keep up with ya," she smirked as she picked up into a much more mobile dance routine knowing that Jolt would be right there with her.

Ujarak took that as all the approval he needed to close the remaining distance, moving in to softly kiss her right there on the dance floor. "Mmm..." was all the sound he made as he held her to him and savoured the moment.

"Relax, it was a joke!" Shantae replied, taking the dress to help her step into it. "You'll be just fine! And you'll look amazing to boot!"

"That's your prerogative," Mewtwo responded. "But I want to know. What did humans do to you to make you so angry?"

True to form, there he was, following right behind her. He could keep up with her, limitless ball of energy that he was. He laughed as he chased her around the dance floor, grinning and reaching for her as she kept just out of his reach.

Nightgale stayed silent for a long while, her thoughts in turmoil as she ventured through memories too painful to retell. Eventually however she figured what harm could there really be in at least saying something to someone with similar seething hatred?

"I lost my family to them... And my pack..." she sighed, her voice distant. "And then I allowed myself to trust again and ended up unsurprisingly betrayed yet again."

Mawrow smiled into the kiss as the music simply seemed to be drowned out by the moment. She remained enwrapped in the kiss for a few moments longer before breaking contact and moving back just slightly to look at him. "Mmm is right papi," she laughed a bit. "Sweet lips for a sweet soul. Me gusta." she stated simply.

"O-oh right, I... yeah I hope so." She smiled sheepishly considering that her track record in 'you'll be fine' wasn't the best to really count on.

However even so, she fit the dress with Shantae's help and gave a small twirl. "Well... How... How do I look?"

She playfully continued the cat and mouse-styled dance routine, always keeping one step ahead willingly as they made waves through the small crowd. Eventually however, the beats slowed down some and she spun to a halt, sweat glistening on her exposed skin and her tailflame giving off a mellow glow.

"I luv you Jolt." she stated simply and yet with so much emotion behind it.
