Rene hung the last of the party decorations over the door and quickly put the ladder away. The tables were set with various edibles, the curtains were crisp and ironed, the paper decorations were festive and cute, and the year was about to change.

2017 though? What a strange number. She wondered what their calendar was based on. No matter, a celebration was always a good time.

The big bull man stopped by to grab some snacks. He almost seemed to vanish into the crowd despite his huge size, so unassuming as he was. He was at one with the world, or so it felt, just smiling as he observed the revelry around him.

"Quieres par de snacks sweetheart?" Oh no you don't, no one leaves this party hungry even if you already have snacks while Mawrow's around. She offered a tray of more savory appetizers like stuffed potato skins, creamed mussles and bacon wrapped chicken nuggets.

"A big boy like you can't eat just that?" She pointed and smiled, no malice behind her words, just someone who seemed to enjoy caring for others. "Oh no mijo, tu tienes que have more okay?"

Ujarak chuckled quietly, smiling down at Mawrow. "Well, if you insist, who am I to refuse the request of a beautiful woman?" he asked, taking her free hand and kissing it before taking one of the tasty treats from the tray and popping it into his mouth. "Might I ask your name?" he asked.

Mawrow chuckled, "Ay mijo, such a gentleman."

She smiled up at him, "Me llamo Mawrow, un placer to meet you."

"The pleasure is all mine, my dear," he answered with a smile. "My name is Ujarak."

"Ujarak," She smiled. "A very unique name and it sounds exotic." Mawrow laughed a bit. "Maybe you should try being in novelas." a nother light chuckle as she placed the try on the table along with all the other dishes.

"Well, there's plenty to eat mijo so don't be shy."

"It would seem so," he replied with a small chuckle. "Not many Tauren around here. I've cornered the market, at least temporarily. I might enjoy that, assuming I found someone willing to write one. But I'll settle for enjoying myself and listening to some of the wonderful stories to be heard around these parts."

He smiled. "I will. Do you need to be away so soon? I've been long without company, let alone such lovely company."

"Tauren, que es eso?" she asked curiously. "Can't say that I know who they are, solo pense that you were a Tauros or something similar." She chuckled.

At his comment she laughed and shook her head, "Pero si I'm not going anywhere mijo, just keeping things full and tidy para todos. Everyone will be well fed tonight." And every night if you let her.

"Ah, I suppose you aren't familiar with us then. That's understandable," he replied with a smile. "I'm one of many races of the land of Azeroth. My people have a strong connection to the land and nature. I, myself, am a druid."

He smiled again. "Then perhaps you would do me the honor of a dance?" he asked. "I'm a bit rusty, but I'm willing to try again."

"Azeroth huh," she looked up in thought. "If I remember right there were a few from there back in the Academy... Bueno but I mean, back before we all ended up here. I actually think there's still one or two that got dragged here too?" she shrugged, maybe she should take a census or suggest it to one of the dorm leaders.

"Ser uno con nature is a good thing but I'm not familiar with druid other than what some of the fantasy novelas has shown." Which might not be the same so she doesn't want to assume.

At his proposal however, she dropped her cleaning rag and smiled big. "Now that's what I'm talking about muchacho, let's groove." She laughed and moved over from behind the food stand.

"I've met one other," Ujarak said in response with a nod and a smile, reaching out to take her hand. "My thoughts exactly," he added, leading her out to the dance floor and placing one hand on her hip and the other holding her hand as they started to move to the music.

Mawrow let him lead as was customary in novelas because hey that's what real life was like right? Maybe in Mawrow's perfect world She followed his lead to the beat not ever missing a step and all the while she smiled up at the tall Tauren. "You dance well, no two left hoofs joke in your kind?" she chuckled.

To be fair, somewhere out there is probably a novela about being seduced by a minotaur. Probably written by Chuck Tingle. "There are," he said with a chuckle, lifting a hand to twirl her once before holding her again. "But I've had plenty of time to gain some experience. It's been some time since I've been dancing. I'm glad I haven't lost my touch."

Rene couldn't stop herself from staring, at least at first. How long had THIS been around? And how hadn't she noticed?

Ujarak looked down at the girl and smiled, bowing slightly. "Good evening, miss," he greeted her politely.

"Oh uh..." She fumbled for words. "I'm sorry. I'm still not used to people that aren't human. I really should be and I'm sorry for being rude."

[wildtrail]

"Apology accepted," he replied. "Were I to come from a world without Tauren in them, I would be confused as well. No harm done." Ever the gentleman, he took her hand and kissed it. "My name is Ujarak Wildtrail. What's yours?"

Oh wow! That was...unexpected. "Gosh...not used to a greeting like that." She slowly withdrew her hand, not sure what to do with it. "I'm Rene Randall. Where do you come from? I've never heard of Tauren, even here."

[wildtrail]

"I'm surprised," he said with a small chuckle. "But I do hope I'm not too forward. I simply mean to be polite. I hail from the land of Azeroth. I've learned that Tauren are a fairly unique race to Azeroth, so it's not surprising you haven't heard of us before."

"I've never heard of that place. But you've probably never heard of Gallia, right?"

[wildtrail]

"I can't say that I have," he answered. "So it would seem we could both stand to learn more about each other's homelands."

[garmentgoddess]

"Well, no time like the present, right? Here, I'll start with this." She held out her hand, to the side now. "In Gallia, we shake hands as a greeting. Some people kiss cheeks, but I'm from out in the country."

Ujarak chuckled in response, extending his hand to shake. "Of course. We do that in Azeroth as well," he replied, shaking her hand. "I simply wanted to be a gentleman in the presence of a lovely lady."

Oh boy, Rene wasn't used to that. Flirting had never been in Rene's wheelhouse, either doing or receiving it. Was she supposed to flirt back? Was she supposed to disregard it? Instead she just giggled. "Hahahaha, so how did you come here? I was supposed to have a job at the school, but when I got here, there wasn't a school any more."

Get used to it. Ujarak can't turn the charm off. But he was taking everything in stride, enjoying her reactions all the same. "I'm not entirely certain," he replied. "I wander so often, but one morning I woke up and the forest was... different. The sky and the stars were different, and I realized I was no longer in Azeroth. I had been brought here." He smiled. "So, you are a teacher?"
