Rene hung the last of the party decorations over the door and quickly put the ladder away. The tables were set with various edibles, the curtains were crisp and ironed, the paper decorations were festive and cute, and the year was about to change.

2017 though? What a strange number. She wondered what their calendar was based on. No matter, a celebration was always a good time.

Rosalina kept mostly to herself at the party, hanging at the sidelines and watching things go on with a curious eye. It had been a while since she'd been to a simple new years party like this. She didn't know what to do, she didn't know what she should say... Who she should talk to...

Jolt was armed to the teeth. He had noisemakers. He had poppers. He had a silly hat and beads on. He even had a drink glass at the ready.

Time to party.

Time to party! Rock's got some noisemakers and a hat on, and he's going around putting bead necklaces on everybody!

Oh... A party? Blaze wasn't exactly a party animal, but she showed up anyway. She wallflowered a bit, though, and would need to be pulled out of her comfort zone.

After a little work, Knuckles had done the impossible: find a shirt that actually fit his muscled arms. He had never really been to a new years party, and wasn't sure what he was supposed to do, but hey, there was fruit punch, and he was down for that any time!

Oh man, a party! Oh man, Tails was working on a fireworks show! Where did he get the fireworks, you may ask? The better question was, is it going to blow up in his face? Hopefully not!

Hmph. Another party? She could live with that. But at least it was a chance to get some free food, even if she wasn't all that into mingling. Maybe someone would be willing to give her a kiss at midnight.

Shantae was ready to celebrate. She'd found herself a nice red strapless evening dress with a deep slit up the side showing off a lot of gorgeous leg, and ribbons woven into her ponytail made it sparkle more than usual. She was gonna look amazing at this party.

Meanwhile, while everyone else was having fun, a solitary stoic figure waited outside, watching over everything. He hated crowds, he hated attention. But if the creatures wanted to occupy themselves... let them. He didn't have to participate.

Someone was stalking the shadows nearby in a fairly foul mood. What exactly was there to celebrate? Yay we survived for another year in a place we know nothing about and without a clue as to what exactly we should be doing with a handful of people most of us could care less about! Yipee~! Ugh it made her SICK.

But it looked like someone was as antisocial as her though probably not for the same reasons.

"What? Didn't feel like joining the merry dumbasses hm?"

And so she did huh? Shantae did look stunning and Ronnae had to glance over once or twice maybe thrice if no one was looking just to take it in. She herself however didn't really find herself in a very celebratory mood but still opted to help in making things go swell. She still remembered how it could be fun to go to the end of year festivities in Orgrimmar and had set out to be in charge of the fireworks and other -banging- displays of pyrotechnics and robotic fun.

Not really wearing anything out of the ordinary for her, one of her favorite hoodies and some workpants (The clean ones, not the ones with mechanic grease and oil splotches) in her usual attempts to just blend into the background and simply enjoy the atmosphere. She wasn't as much a wallflower as a few years back but she also still wasn't jumping for joy at socializing.

And he also had lips locked on his and a tongue down his throat. Whoops!

"Hey sugar, ready to end the year in a blaze of glory hm?" Riwane grinned wide adorned with similarly gaudyloud end of year decorations. "We made it through even when I thought it was all over. I think that calls for some form of cheeriness don't ya think hun?"

Ever the grump, Mewtwo didn't even move from his place as he heard a familiar voice address him. "I see the feeling is mutual," he commented. "What are you doing here?"

The big bull man stopped by to grab some snacks. He almost seemed to vanish into the crowd despite his huge size, so unassuming as he was. He was at one with the world, or so it felt, just smiling as he observed the revelry around him.

Shantae of course noticed her friend right away, and smiled as she approached. She missed the observing glances as she walked right up and took Ronnae's hands. "Hey there!" she said happily. "Glad to see you! How're you doing? Having fun?" she asked. Try not to let your eyes get drawn into her cleavage, Ronnae.

If there's one thing Jolt loved doing, it was furiously making out with his best friend/girlfriend. Watch the hands, Jolt, you're in public!

He grinned broadly at her when their lips finally parted, hugging her tight. "You know it!" he said eagerly. "It was a weird year, but I'm glad we made it through, and we got to spend it together!"

Lucca seemed like the last person to get tipsy at an event like this. That makes it all the more astounding because she's the FIRST person to get tipsy. Glass of some fruity concoction in hand, she finds her boyfriendbot with the beads and leans against him, clumsily fiddling her glasses back into place.

"Ooh, y'got some beads for me, too?" She giggles.

Oh wow, that was fast, Rock thought as he noticed Lucca leaning against him like that, slurring her speech. He could detect high levels of alcohol on her breath, and he had to put an arm around her to catch her and make sure she didn't accidentally fall over. "Hi, Lucca!" he said back, smiling and laughing at the look of her. She'd feel it in the morning, for sure. But at least she was happy!

"Of course I do!" he said, taking one of the bead strings from around his wrist and laying it around Lucca's neck. "There." He punctuated it with a kiss on her cheek.

Did someone say "take me out of my comfort zone?"

...No? Oh. Well, here's Sonic anyway.

"Ready for a new year?" He asks, handing her a glass of punch

"Whoa, dude. I'd hand ya some punch, but I get the feeling you'd flex right out of that shirt if you reached for it." Sonic prods, his way of greeting his friend. "Howya doin', Knux?"

...She'd make an exception for Sonic.

She smiled for him, taking the punch glass and shifting up a bit on her toes to kiss his cheek in thanks. "I certainly hope so," she told him, taking a sip. "And you? Any resolutions you're planning on making?" she asked.

"Wow! You know, I WAS wondering about all that gunpowder all over the place downstairs. I guess this answers my question." He comments, eyeballing the pile of fireworks.

"...Uh, you sure this is safe? I mean, there's only so much island to blow up before we run out..."

"HEY WAVE!"

Don't worry, Blaze, it's your best pain in the tailfeathers friend here to cheer you up.

"Hey! I was wondering when you were going to show up!"

"Har har," Knuckles replied, lifting a hand to give Sonic a quick shove. "I'm doing okay," he said, tugging at his shirt collar, "but this isn't exactly the most comfy shirt in the world. I'm half afraid of breaking it."

"Oh, don't worry about THAT!" Tails replied, dusting off his hands and getting up to his feet. "I'm 98% sure this will be completely safe! Well, as safe as fireworks ever are, but you know how that is," he added with a broad smile. "One thing's for sure, it'll be a great show no matter what happens, right?"
