Rene hung the last of the party decorations over the door and quickly put the ladder away. The tables were set with various edibles, the curtains were crisp and ironed, the paper decorations were festive and cute, and the year was about to change.

2017 though? What a strange number. She wondered what their calendar was based on. No matter, a celebration was always a good time.

Mawrow laughed as she was picked up and placed atop of him like a child. It made her much happier than she thought it would and she made sure to made herself comfortable. "Actually, much more than I thought it be. You're a well build Tauren for all I know of them." she chuckled.

"Well, I pride myself on keeping in top physical form," he explained with a chuckle of his own.

Their eyes were drawn skyward as the countdown began and finally ended. Cheers went up around them, and in moments the fireworks show started, erupting into the sky patterns of color.

"It sure feels that way," she smirked squeezing his shoulders. "Oh my," she chuckled before looking up to the skies once they begun. "Ah, the signals of a new year, another challenge conquered for many of our young ones. I'm hoping they have a good year again. They've gone through enough."

"Indeed so," Ujarak added with a smile. "But so long as we're around to support them, we can ensure they have a good year," he said in response.

"And we will, you can bet on that." she smiled and nodded reassuredly. "Maybe we'll get even more people show up. And if they're anywhere near as nice as the ones we've gotten recently, pues entonces si estamos muy bien!" she chuckled cheerily.

"And if we do, I'm certain you'll make them feel right at home," he laughed. "You have a wonderful warmth about you... It radiates off of you. You have quite the big heart..."

"You're too kind," she smiled down at him beaming. "I just want to make sure everyone is well taken care of you know? If I don't, I hope someone else will and so on. We're familia you know? It's what we do." And she did miss her family back in Kanto, but that wouldn't stop her from taking care of those here.

"And tell me... Do you have anyone here taking care of you?" he asked, looking up at her where she sat perched on his shoulders.

"Of course silly, we all watch over each other." she mused but she knew what he was implying but that didn't mean this old Marowak couldn't play coy.

"Of course," he replied with a chuckle. "But what of your wants and needs? Does anyone see to them for you?" he asked curiously, raising an eyebrow.

"Wants and needs? Whatever do you mean?" she couldn't even hide and keep a straight face but she still played it out knowing he was already onto her.

"Is there any special someone in your life, Miss Mawrow?" Ujarak asked, making himself clear to her as he reached up to hold her steady on his shoulders.

Mawrow smiled, a smaller more gentler smile down at the Tauren. "No señor Uja, not for a very long time." Her voice was soft but not in a sad manner but more as someone who has loved and lost and it was a pleasant parting with fond memories.

He took a deep breath and sighed slowly. "I understand," he replied. "More than you might think." His mind drifted to thoughts of his wife and son, long gone now but always close to his heart. His grip on her tightened somewhat, and he looked up at her again. "Tonight though, we have each other. Perhaps it's time we left?" he suggested. "To continue this somewhere more private..."

Mawrow smiled in understanding. "We do. A nice quite private place sounds like a nice way to end the night, or morning." Depending on where things led.

"Lead the way my new friend."

Ujarak nodded. "As you command," he said with a sly smile up at her, carrying her towards the mansion. It was a little too cool outside for what he had in mind, and he felt she might prefer more comfortable surroundings. So with a quick inquiry, he set off towards her room in the mansion...
