What: CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
Where: Outside on the mansion grounds where there are cherry blossoms that have magically not finished blooming yet this late into April
When: RIGHT NOW???
Warnings: Rated S for SHOJO

Stadiums and tournaments and rankings were all well and good, but they were lacking things that Flurrie felt were far too important to go ignored. Style! Beauty! Grace! Culture! This place needed more of it. Fortunately, with spring in full force, she had a fantastic idea to bring everyone together to celebrate just those things!

And so, a message appears on the bulletin board:

Underneath it was more information, including dates and a request to contact her if the reader were interested in hosting a booth at the festival.

When the day arrived for the festivities, the mansion's inhabitants will find a lovely grove of cherry blossoms decorated with streamers, flower arrangements, and numerous booths waiting for them. Where did Flurrie get all this? It is a mystery.

((OOC: Open mingle log! The booths can be absolutely anything you want- food, games, stuff for sale, magic tricks, etc, and your character is free to host one if they would be so inclined. It's not as big as past festivals obviously, but Flurrie tried.))

Flurrie all but ransacked the theater's dressing rooms and came up with an impressive display of costumes, many of which are hanging on display for all to see. There's a makeshift dressing room in the back for trying on anything that catches your eye, from period costumes of all eras to, of course, several outfits of a certain style to keep with the theme of the festival. (Not everything is quite as fancy, though...)

"Hello! Hello!" Flurrie greets anyone who draws near. "Do you feel a bit under dressed today? No need to fret, dahling, I'm sure I have just the thing for you! Why don't you step inside and have a look?"

Rene, being from Gallia, had only seen trees like that in books. "It's like a scene from a fairy tale!" she wowed, staring at everything around her. "Magari would love it here!"

Jet had found himself a plastic cup of sake. How he managed to get alcohol at his age was anyone's guess, but he got it.

He was wandering around with the intention of finding Wave--to surprise her--but grew antsy, so he stood beside a booth at the far end of the festival and started sipping.

"BLEH, PEHHH!!" He sputtered. "Ugh, this stuff is strong!"

...And he shrugged it off and resumed sipping.

"Wh, me? Oh, yeah. Um. I don't usually dress up." Lucca replies in a hurried mess of words.

"You're not gonna drink and fly, are ya?"

Who's that? Where's it coming from? The sprinkle of pink petals from a shuddering branch overhead gives a clue, and that clue is the large blue hedgehog perched on it.

"Long time no see, Jet!"

Sakura Grove, Act 1 (Open)

Sonic has a love of landscapes like this. The paths are a raceway, and the limbs of the trees his own personal cotton-candy playground. To say he was everywhere at once would be hyperbole, but descriptive. He's over at the snack tables, bouncing from tree to tree and sliding down the branches, hanging out at the arena for some target training (Wait he can't fly how the hell did he even GET over there?!) Messing around with the game tables, napping in the grove, back at the snack tables again...

He's more than willing to talk, assuming you can catch him.

Sakura Grove, Act 2 (Private to Blaze)

Also yeah, Blaze, he's looking for you. You need to SEE this!

"Who said that?!" Jet squawked as he flailed and looked around for the source of that cocky voice. "Gaww! Sonic! You're here, too?!"

Blast it! He knew there was lots and lots of teasing for him on the horizon.

Rouge sat atop the tent of a nearby booth. So far, watching some punks lose at those rigged carnival games was causing her great amusement.

Upon spotting her acquaintance, she called down to her:

"Hey! I've seen you around before. You tried to cheer me up when I was down, didn't you?" At least, that's how she remembered it.

"Oh yeah! Are you feeling better?" It was impossible for Rene to forget talking to a giant bat.

Rene was enjoying the food, and it brought a smile to her that some of her dried fruits were being consumed. She'd heard at least one "yum" over them.

She reached to grab a banana when a gloved hand reached for the same one. "Oh! Go ahead," she offered.

Rouge shrugged.

"I suppose so. 'Time heals all wounds' and all that drivel."

She wasn't in the mood to talk about her issues with Knuckles, so she quickly switched topics.

"Come to celebrate the cherry blossoms or are you more keen on all these activity booths?"

"Don't worry, I'm not gonna tell the teacher!" He adds, hopping down from his perch.

"There aren't any teachers to tell anymore, anyway. So when did you get here? Not long enough for Wave to find you, I guess."

She'd be squawking at him to put the booze down right now, if she were.

"--Oh hey, thanks!"

He takes a morsel of the dried banana. Since they'd been left on the island, little luxuries have been light, and this is a delight. Also, Hedgie just like banana.

"Who made these?" He asks cluelessly. "These are really good!"

"I did!" she grins. "I'm glad you like them! I've never dried banana before."

"Anything and everything! It's amazing!" She paused. "Uh...I don't really know where to begin. Could you recommend something?"

"How many other fruit have you tried?" He asks, ears perking.

Wave was having a boring day. Every day here was boring. There was nothing interesting to do, no ruins to explore, no treasure to grab, and building materials were in relatively short supply. What was a genius mechanic to do when there was nothing to tinker with?

She was going to content herself with just getting outdoors for a while, when she heard a very familiar sounding angry squawking. "What the--?!"

She bolted towards the sound. And she found Jet. With booze.

"JET THE HAWK, you PUT THAT DOWN," she angrily demanded. Nice to see you too.

Rouge grinned and pointed toward a brightly-colored booth down the path.

"That blue one sells some pretty decent tea. I'd give that one a try. And that one--" she motioned to the one next to it. "-- they do origami. I'd never tried it but found it amusing. Start with those."

"There's supposed to be fireworks later, by the way," she added. "You should stick around for them. I haven't seen fireworks in what seems like years."

Jet crossed his arms impertinently.

"A few days ago! The Hands gave me a room and it took a while to clean up! No, I haven't seen Wave. I'll find her here, though, I know it. I came here to find her but thought I'd get settled first, that's all!"

No, he was not putting off tracking her down out of fear of a lecture. Not at all. Nope.

"GWAHH!!! Wave!!" he exclaimed, spilling half his drink.

"Wave, uhh... What, this? It's only cider!! Geeze! And glad to see you, too, sheesh!"

Obvious lies.

Late at night, a glorious display of fireworks started. A fitting end to a festive night.

Rouge sat on a stump a bit of a distance from the line of booths. It was a good spot with a good view. She hadn't seen anything so bright since the moon destroyed everything, and it was a welcome distraction from... well, things.

"Huh. I thought we wouldn't get anyone new on this island, after the moon destroyed everything."

He eyes the sake himself, but decides against it. Alcohol generally tastes awful to him, and wouldn't do much anyway.

"What? A MOON destroyed the school?! All I found was a giant, black void dome! What the heck were you guys summoning a MOON for? A weird kind of skill training? 'Kick the moon before it explodes the world' sort of thing? That was the point of the school, wasn't it? Getting better at fighting?"

Jet was clearly confused. He remembered the school a little and knew it had a problem with constant crazy situations, but what the heck?

Black void dome? What does THAT mean?

"Whoa, simmer down, squawk box, we didn't summon anything! Actually we did whatever we could to send it back before it hit us! Yeah, we... weren't exactly successful," He amends with a shrug, "but at least we're alive!"

"Right. And do you normally shriek like that when it's just cider?" she asked, knowing full well that that. Was not cider.

She rubbed her forehead. "How did you get here?"
