Marine was conscious but in a serious amount of trouble. Her jet pack was weighing her down, and she was struggling to escape the harness. With no traction or weight underwater, it was difficult to loosen the straps. She hadn't thought to install an emergency escape mechanism, but she was panicking too much to care right then.
She pulled and tugged at the straps, but they were barely moving, and she was starting to feel lightheaded from lack of air. Her lungs felt like they were going to collapse. Her tears dissolved in the water before they could form on her cheek.
As much as she was afraid of being judged for screwing up so bad, she prayed someone would help her before it was too late. The straps... can't undo.........
