Rene hung the last of the party decorations over the door and quickly put the ladder away. The tables were set with various edibles, the curtains were crisp and ironed, the paper decorations were festive and cute, and the year was about to change.

2017 though? What a strange number. She wondered what their calendar was based on. No matter, a celebration was always a good time.

"Oh how thoughtful, I feel completely honored!" She mock-gasped before laughing. "Eh, jokes aside company ain't always bad... Thanks for sharing the hatespace with me." She smirked.

He chuckled quietly. "You're welcome," he said, half-sarcastically and half-seriously. She was the closest he could find to a kindred spirit around here, and solitude was wearing... Even he could use company now and then.

"So what does someone like you do in a place like this anyways? It's not like you're mingling." Can't be doing nothing, not someone like him. Seems like that would drive them uneasy or worse.

"I watch, and I listen," Mewtwo explained. "I've been observing the inhabitants. Some of them seem harmless. Others are... unusual, and merit further observation."

Gale scoffed, "Seems kind of boring." a mock-yawn escaped her lips as she grinned. "Why bother? Unless you're doing a study or writing something about it it doesn't seem to me like you're just that. A watcher. Seems like you are more than that."

"What's the human expression, know your enemy?" Mewtwo asked. "If I'm going to defend myself from these creatures, I need to understand them."

Gale's grin widened considerably. "And here I had thought I had pegged you wrong. Good going there, at least now I know you're not like the rest of the sheep."

"Your opinion of me matters very little," Mewtwo replied to her comment. "But I don't intend to be caught unprepared. I've had one human approach me with very... grandiose ideas for the future of all existence. These beings are capable of anything..."

"Don't have to tell me about it," she spat back, obvious venom in her words as she practically hissed. "They're almost all the same, and those who act like they aren't are the worse once they show their true colors..."

"Heh. I'm glad we're in agreement then," Mewtwo said, trying to keep the amusement off of his face at her words. "Most Pokemon don't understand that."

"Pft, they just tend to be happy to get acknowledge and then used..." Though she'd be lying if she said she didn't know there were exceptions to the rule... That there were 'good' humans. But those were extremely rare in her opinion and experience.

Not according to Mewtwo. But he didn't need to say it. Dark's resistance to Psychic meant he couldn't just prod into her mind the way he normally would. It was... a unique experience to get to know someone in a way other than getting it all at once in his head. "Indeed. Would that it were so easy to liberate all Pokemon everywhere..." He shook his head. "But that's a dream."

"A dumb dream," she retorted back. "A fool's errand anyways... Just look at them." she pointed. "You seem like you've been observing a while, do you really think they'd WANT to be 'liberated? They've already become sheep, most of them."

"To be able to rescue them from a life of servitude... I don't think that's a foolish dream," he said. "But still... A dream nonetheless." A glance back at her. "You do not seem to be one who believes in dreams one way or the other."

"I've had my fair share of failures and broken dreams and promises to have given up on believing in hope." she stated bitterly. "Now I just do my thing when and however I want to."

"That's your prerogative," Mewtwo responded. "But I want to know. What did humans do to you to make you so angry?"

Nightgale stayed silent for a long while, her thoughts in turmoil as she ventured through memories too painful to retell. Eventually however she figured what harm could there really be in at least saying something to someone with similar seething hatred?

"I lost my family to them... And my pack..." she sighed, her voice distant. "And then I allowed myself to trust again and ended up unsurprisingly betrayed yet again."

"Hmph. I wish I could say that was an uncommon story with humans," Mewtwo said. "But if I did, I'd be lying. I am sorry for your loss."

Gale shrugged, trying to act like it didn't hurt, and that she didn't appreciate it, but at that time it was hard to do so.

"Yeah, well, I'm not letting something like that happen again." Not while she could help it.

"Good. We cannot allow ourselves to continue to be victims," Mewtwo replied. He felt like perhaps putting a hand on her shoulder, but... He just wasn't that kind of mon.

Good move Mewtwo, it saved you the punch you'd get from her.

"Yeah, screw that."

A moment of silence to let her get back to today and she felt curious about something.

"So, what about you? What did those fucks do to you?"

"Hmph." Mewtwo scoffed for a moment, crossing his arms. "They created me."

Gale was confused for a moment, looking at him with a brow raise. "Created you? As in made you who you are or?" Or more literal in the sense that they somehow were able to create a Pokemon and if so, then the myths and heresay were real and there really was a created Pokemon.

"I mean they grew me in a lab. They bred me to be the ultimate weapon. Tampered with me. Used me. Tormented me. They wanted a weapon? That's what they got. And they learned the folly of their ways once I was through with them."

"Ohohoho," That piqued Naghtgale's interest for sure and she finally stood to walk around Mewtwo as if studying. "Well, well, well... So the rumors were true. Now I'm hoping you gave them hell for the attrocities they commited hm?"
