[open] And the curtain rises
Who: Everyone, new and old.
What: Welcome to the new home.
Where: The Mansion and surrounding courtyard area.
When: January 15th
Warnings: Probably some swearing.
Despite the efforts, the world still shook. The sky went red. The inevitable was truly inevitable. Or... Was it?
No matter where you were, it was the same: The flash that seered the back of your vision, the crumbling of the earth beneath feet as it opened to swallow all that resided on it, the scream of an astral body that was breathing its last. And then there was darkness. Heat, and then icy cold.
The darkness stretched into forever. If one didn't know any better, they'd think they died.
Maybe they did.
Yet it was not the end. The dark faded. Life was still steady in their veins despite it all, and with a lurch and a rush of air in the lungs, our wayward Smash Academy residents would find themselves in a distinctly different place than they would have expected. A bedroom, a garden, an unknown rooftop. Wherever they were, they were alive and they were whole.
And, quite possibly they were not alone.
Where they were, however, was unclear. If they were lucky (?) enough to be outside, everything smelled new. Crisp air, fresh soil, a smattering of scents they've never encountered. Those that awoke inside somewhere were the majority, and while it was a new place to be, it was most certainly not new. Dust, mildew, the creak and groan of wood long since untouched, and the shadows of a place only lit by daylight.
What a dump.

"Goddamn you all..." he muttered, the words of a long-gone author, "I told you so..."
And then it struck. Mesprit's grip had reawakened what had been lost in him, and his emotions flooded as if a dam had cracked wide open. The full weight of everything knocked him to his knees, and that there was a place for him to fall TO was passed over in the crushing wall.
The fresh air filled him, but was quickly expelled as he choked out a years-suppressed sob. The world was gone, and he could not guide it into a new beginning.
no subject
Well. If they both went to hell, then probably. So either he was still alive, or this was hell.
"Oh look. You can cry again. Whoopie."
It was 50/50, really.

THE ONE FOR SKULL KID
And yet, despite the fact that every fiber of her being had been taught with tension and panic just a short while ago, all she could register right now was the absolutely horrendous crick in her neck. It was like sleeping at the absolute worst angle on a 2x4 or somewhere equally as ridiculous to sleep on if you weren't a cat. Blue definitely wasn't a cat. She couldn't even say she was much of a cat person. Geez this sucked really bad.
The trainer hissed a bit through clenched teeth as she pushed herself up and proceeded to flop uncgracefully over herself as she suddenly sunk down. "WHAT." Her eyes flew open to look down at... What was she looking at. It looked kind of like a movie seat arm rest? Did she just topple down with a seat bottom. What??
no subject
Skull Kid peeked over the top of the seat in the row in front of Blue. How long had he been sitting there watching her? CREEPY.

With Melia
He rubs his head, trying to wish away a wicked headache before propping himself up and stretching once he was standing. He looked around the new environment, hand on his holster in case he needed to take care of any zombies or other Umbrella mishaps in this new place.
Had he been dragged? Was it another puzzle? Who knew. What he did know was that he wasn't alone.
"Hey, you over there."
Re: With Melia
"Hey, you over there."
Melia let out a gasp and jolted forward, nearly falling out of the... chair? She was sitting in. It was an old, busted up armchair, with the stuffing coming out of one arm and covered in dust.
"What..." She looked around, confused, at her new surroundings, until her eyes fell on Billy. "Did you call me?"

"NYEH? NOW, THIS DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT AT ALL!" Papyrus scanned the area, looking for something or another. He pulled a road map out from the glove compartment of his car, and studied it closely.
"JUST AS I THOUGHT! THIS ISN'T THE HUMAN/MONSTER SCHOOL AT ALL! SANS! WHAT KIND OF SHORT CUT IS-" but, Sans wasn't there. Papyrus turned off the car and stepped out, clearly agitated.
"YOU KNOW IT'S OUR TURN TO PICK UP FRISK FROM SCHOOL TODAY! IF I FIND YOU SLACKING OFF I'M GOING STRAIGHT TO TORI AND SHE'LL BE SO MAD!"
Huh. Usually that's enough to get him to respond. Just where the heck did he end up?

JOLT ran off with PAPYRUS'S special attack.Jolt had no idea where he was or how he had gotten there. He was outside the front of the mansion, and the last thing he remembered was... You know what, he decided he DIDN'T want to remember that part.
The sparkledog wanted desperately to find his family and friends. Green, Char, Bulba, please be okay... Riwane, where'd you get to? Sonny, Jock, you'd better be okay.
BUT THEN...! A sports car showed up? And a... skeleton wearing a cape jumped out...? Jolt could just stare at first, cocking his canine head in confusion. Who the heck was THAT?

For BULBA
no subject
It was cold, so cold. All he felt was the cold as it bloomed through his chest and crawled up his throat. He had tried so hard to forget what it felt like- the frozen nothing of being a ghost, the rush of water pushing him down and the screaming of his flower at his core. It was clutching at him one more time, and the screaming only grew louder and louder-
Wake up!
Bulba jolted, his large cold-sensitive frame colliding with the chilly tile wall behind him that only provided more distress. What was this? What was this??

ZERO + HAGAKURE + POOL PARTY
The world had ended. He'd seen it die in his mind a thousand times in the last two weeks, but he had never been able to see what was going to arise from it after its death.
Evidently, this brave new world included pool chairs.
"Dude," he said, rubbing his eyes, "I think I'm still alive, dude."
Little did he know, Dear Reader, that there was a ROBOT MAN next to him.
poolparty.jpg
Silence greeted him in the form of a robot man(?) over-abundant in ellipses. He was not your 'dude.'
"...Get up."
Zero was on his feet immediately, weapon in hand and surveying the surrounding area with stern caution.

THE OPEN THREAD for Bulba
They had to be okay.
So around and about the mansion Bulba went, occasionally jerking open a door only to have a pikmin tumble off a shelf on top of him. Which was good! He was steadily rebuilding his collection as he went. They helped to sooth his panicked heart, but they did not make his searching any less frantic. It was quite possible he was just going to literally run into someone or something.
Choose your Own Adventure by finding Bulba at the... Changing Rooms / West Wing Hallway / Hedge Maze / Dining Hall / FREE CHOICE!!

ANOTHER OPEN THREAD for Blue
Except for all those times that he was not there because Skull Kid was Skull Kid and when did he ever not do his own thing."JOCK?" In went a door. "ACACIA??" Another door. This sort of thing just kept repeating.
Who knows how many times she ended up scooby doo'ing past people. Probably dozens. Wow. She was, quite frankly, all over the place.
no subject
"AGRH," was basically what the noise sounded like, and if she were to open the door a bit more (but slower, hopefully), she would see the crumpled body of her boyfriend, post getting beaned in the face by a door. Green knelt on the ground, hands on his forehead.

open green sesame
He stood up, knees wobbling, not fully awake yet.
"Hello?" Green called out into the room, his own voice echoing back at him. "Where the hell is this?"
With no immediate answer, he got up and began to explore, like any trainer would.
no subject
THIS GUY.
The moment the wandering pup heard the telltale sound of his trainer's voice, he made a mad dash for the voice's source. And as soon as he identified Green, he bolted for him, and with an excited bark, the Jolteon flung himself at Green.

STUCK IN A CLOSET WITH RIWANE
This felt a bit too mundane be limbo, though. Unless limbo was a really small room lit by a single Charizard tailflame. He squinted at the other Pokemon crammed in here with him with vague recognition. "Uh... okay. I don't feel too dead. What about you?"
Whatever Vinnie had been expecting, it wasn't this. He pushed against the walls, trying to find some give.
no subject
They weren't dead? Shaking her head, Riwane wiggled around some. "No, not that I can tell. I --" And then that searing pain of a realizing a bad cramp was eating at her leg made her bite her tongue for a moment while she pushed her leg as straight as she could trying to make it go away. Though that just made her press against Vinnie in the cramped closet. Something was bound to give in that space.
"Sorry hon, gosh darn bad cramp in mah leg. But that done confirm that I'm alive fur sure." she winced.

For Rosalina!
Eyes opened, lenses shifting rapidly to adjust to a new space. Hesitantly, he sat up. Surveyed... a large, empty room. Lined with... training dummies? Racks lined with swords? A... batting cage? Was that a batting cage?
This. Was not anything familiar. An alarming pinprick of deja vu hit Harpuia -- just like his first death. What should have been his only death. Oblivion, then someplace completely disconnected from what he knew. Was... was he dead again?
"Hello?" He ventured softly. Tried to boot his scanners up. He couldn't be alone here, surely.
Re: For Rosalina!
What was worse, though, was the quickly dawning realization that her children were nowhere in sight. She quickly looked around. She didn't hear any of the telltale signs of Lumas around her, nor could she sense any of them nearby. She got to her feet, panic starting to set in as she looked around quickly.
Clearly she needed a Guardian.

For Jock!
It was the smell of the floor starting to burn beneath Char's tail that woke him up. The reaction was second-nature, more reflex than conscious choice. He sat up, the flat of his tail stamping out the fire it had started.
The ring of light his soul-flame revealed... a whole lotta nothing, mostly. Cardboard boxes. Weird junk. Was this... the bunkers? Did he fall into a haunted LAN party somehow? Puzzled, he craned his neck, eyes and nose both trying to gain a little information on his whereabouts.
"...Fuckin' smells like dog in here."

A sudden and loud yawn pierced the gloom of this shrine to Counterstrike parties long gone. Bleary eyes looked up at him from behind a pile of mother3boards and green-yellow-themed soda beverage cans. "Sienna?" came a long, drawn out yawn-type name. Hello Birb - Wave
Only it is a very large, purple bird woman.
This is fine, Max can squat for dayz. Also, he is sitting, so really the pressure has been taken off of this entirely.
He wakes with a start and looks at the fire. It's not his fire; it's just some fire. But what is that small weight on his shoulder? He shrugged his obscenely large shoulders to do something about this mystery object.

Bothering a jerk (open)
Like everyone else, he took to exploring the new surroundings in hope of finding some way out. The mansion had seen better days, for sure, but Garrett had an eye for these things and could tell that it was once opulent and rich and probably full of treasures and shinies for the taking.
Treasures that were now completely gone, of course. So much for phat loot. He was just about at the end of his rope when he finally found something worthwhile: An entire room of targets. Maybe this place wasn't a total bust, after all. At least he could imagine the targets were all the various people who wanted his head on a platter.

Open for Jon - waking up in the garden outside.
He'd been underground, locked in the bunkers when the world was broken open and the moon crashed into the ground and there had been rubble and fire and searing pain as his entire, small world had imploded in on itself. He'd raged against it, broken everything he had inside and out to try and escape it, but it was too much even for him, and he was going to be sent into the afterlife with a stifled howl in his throat and red brick dust in his lungs.
Or so he thought.
One benefit of his werewolf lineage was the ability to heal from pretty much anything that wasn't beheading or silver. His eyes opened and he was faced with an expanse of blue sky and light, fluffy clouds. There was no moon there and he thought for a moment he was in heaven. Maybe Felicia's Nun friends had been right, and there really was a wonderful afterlife filled with joy and wonder and everlasting life?
As soon as the thought crossed his mind he began to suspect something was wrong because how the hell did HE qualify for anything so nice? And oh, also, his entire body was actually wracked with terrible pain. Not at all heavenly. So. Purgatory, then?
He rolled onto his side and then onto his stomach, burying his face in the grass. He needed to get up.
"Count of three, then. One... two... ow ow owww... oh sod it."
He'd just... relax here for the moment. He turned his head to the side and saw a huge, dilapidated house not far off. And he was pretty sure he could hear voices coming form inside, too.
For now, he'd just... kind of half crawl, half drag his battered, Human form off into the dark spaces under the hedge, there to lick his wounds and regain some strength.
no subject
He stopped and chuckled once he hit what he was sure was a log under a bush, but somehow turned out to be a beat-up man when he opened his eyes. One who it seemed like forever since he'd seen, what with all the insanity going on and killer werewolves and being left out of the loop. Which was fine at the time, because he was nearly tired of being brave.
"Dang...you look like you got in a fight with a tree'n lost," he said suddenly. Which wasn't thoughtful or helpful at all. He tried again.
"Hi...? Hi. I'm glad you're alive, cos' I was sweatin' with worry, there."

Open for Sonny - Dining Hall
Because that was a normal thing to do?
Now, he was looking for anyone or anything familiar, because he'd woken up in a broken down dining area with busted crockery on the floor and rickety looking chairs and tables that could use a serious cleaning and... oh. A can of something.
You will find him searching for a can opener. He hasn't eaten much today you see and cans are usually good value.

Joel - Anywhere you need a Surly Guy
He struggled to his feet and noted that this would be a nice mansion if someone took the time to repair it.
It wasn't going to be Him, though. (It was probably going to be Him.)
He took stock of what he had on him - his backpack full of weapons and supplies for making more weapons. He had grabbed this to help everyone fight the moon. (Not a sentence he would have ever thought he'd hear himself say, even if he was only reciting it in his head.) And he felt kind of lucky that he had, even if it didn't have room for some of the larger toys he'd amassed over his time at the Academy. He was wearing nice clothes because that's what he'd worn to the wedding. These nice clothes were impractical, but he felt blessed that he'd just cleaned his usual boots instead of opting for dress shoes.
He had no food, no water, had no idea if the nearby mansion was viable shelter, and had no clue if Infected were here. That house could be any one of a number of places back home and -- oh shit. Had he been sent back!?
He dropped to his knees and studied the ground very intently.
If he'd been dropped back home because the crazy mixed up world that was Final Destination City had been destroyed... did that mean he'd get to see Ellie again? Tommy?
He heard a rattle and a happy bark from nearby. Callus, the weird little Coyote-meets-Rattlesnake had been dragged along for the ride somehow. He reached out and ruffled his dog's (Because that was still how he thought of the weird little mutant.) ears to reassure himself before getting to his feet.
Well. He'd better get to investigating. He pulled out his revolver, filled it up, and set about securing the area.
here, now, right where you are

Knuckles - In the woods! Open!
It had been one of his favorites in the small amount of Woods that lived out back of the school. How did it get here?
The ir smelled different. The sunlight LOOKED different. He knew why, too. They were on a floating Island.
Not HIS floating Island. And not the one which had been over the school, either. But A floating Island, nonetheless. He could almost feel that familiar shifting of earth under his feet. See it in the way the horizon moved. Smell that ozone...
He remembered wailing on the moon. Punching it with everything he had. Going his best to crack it open, even as he knew how futile it was to try, he'd given it his all. And then....? He'd woken up here.
Maybe, if he'd made it, other people had too.
"Hello...?" he called into the trees.
no subject
Well, actually, it was the dazed hedgehog in the tuxedo and top-hat that was draped over a lower branch of the tree that called back. Sonic shakes his head, and sits up in the branch. He looks around.
"What're we doing in the woods? Last thing I remember, you were trying to punch that moon into the next galaxy, and I was headed up the clock tower."

At the cliffs - Open!
Not the most dignified thing to say upon his first conscious moments in a new world, but considering the man is supine in the dirt, orange suit streaked with brown, dignity wasn't really a priority. He grumbles and raises his head, the awful white heat and ear-shredding roar echoing in it Jeezus christ, he stepped through that portal and... what happened? Something awful, he knows that much. He shakes his head and looks up.
As it happens, he'd teleported at the edge of the tiny continent, and now he finally takes in the landscape of rocky floating islands and swirling endless void.
"...Aw shit, not again..." He spits, getting to his feet and dusting off his suit. Where the hell was he? Was that Mask here? It wouldn't be the first time he'd had to stalk a creature in another world, although he didn't like the idea of going on safari here. He'd rather find survivors first.
"Hey, hello? Anyone?! Anyone else... survive the chance Einstein-goddamn-Podloskey-fuckkin'-Rosen bridge into the borderworld again besides me?" He adds quietly, starting to walk.
Looks like it's just us, better repopulate the world
And then she heard Gordon's voice.
She looked down, finding the source of the voice, beaming when she saw him walking. She swooped down towards him. "GORDON! Think fast!" she called, shifting back from harpy form in mid air as she flew right at him, arms open.

For RONNAE
The heat and thunder of destruction that they've moved away from seems to echo in the room, but black darkness and the chill and the smell of dust wraps around it quickly like a heavy velvet curtain.
Lucca lies there, staring blankly into the darkness for a moment as the three pounds or so of active, feeling neurons in her head trying to come to a consensus as to what the hell just happened. So the end of the world came after all? Where was she? Was everyone dead? Was SHE dead? Marle said that being dead was like a cold, dark place, and this was cold and dark...
...But then, why was she lying on something warm? And... soft?
"Um--" She begins, snapping and lighting her finger to see what was going on.
no subject
Definitely none that could have survived the impact and taken the time afterwards to revive those they could bring back... But this? This is different...
The smells and sounds of the location seem amiss and she's definitely somewhere else. But the warm feeling of someone atop of her is very familiar and soon she finds the warmth of her cheeks brightening being a clear indicator of her being very alive... "U-umm h-hello? Are you okay?" Even with enhanced senses, she couldn't make out Lucca in the dim lighting due to still feeling hazy from the recovery of 'death'? In any case, she wanted to at least make sure whoever it was was okay as well.

So it was a surprise when he stirred awake and found himself stuffed in a giant half-empty planter in some dusty hallway he didn't recognize. There was some dirt and broken roots in there with him and the stalks of some sad, dry and incredibly dead plant poked out between his arms and legs. Maybe that was his true form that most definitely died and he was reborn as...himself. Which made for a terrible origin story.
After wobbling back and forth in a vain bid to free himself, he sighed and resigned himself to his new home within a home. Looking at the dead plant, he could at least appreciate that he'd have company.
