Open log: A wild Carnival Night Zone appears!

Who: Anybody bold enough to jump through a mysterious warp ring.
What: A giant carnival zone!
Where: In a pocket dimension, nearby island, or just AU, depending on how serious you want to take it.
When: Now?
Warnings: F for FUN!

 

Without notice or explanation, a giant, spinning gold ring had appeared at the edge of the island. Through the center one could see what looked like roller coasters, carnival games, and lots of balloons, among many other things. Timing a jump through the ring was tricky, but doable.

 

A mysterious spacial distortion obscured the area beyond the carnival. Anyone hoping to escape the mansion entirely would find it was hopeless through this warp ring. However, the entertainment value probably seemed tempting to anyone growing restless with nowhere to go. Why not grab a buddy and have some fun?

"Greetings, Sonic. If you must know, the Chaotix have fallen on hard times. I inquired about a job, and the carnival hired me as a ride operator."

Espio turned to the tunnel and sighed.

"It is not at all glamorous, but it IS supplemental income for the time being. It is quiet, which I appreciate, but..." He shuddered. "The things one witnesses when people don't think they're being watched..."

"Huh? You don't actually have to go in there, do ya? I'd figured all you had to do was help people out of the boats at the end."

Espio cringed and nodded.

"I'm assigned security duty........... in that I'm supposed to ensure the safety of its riders, including..." He took a moment to cough while he gathered the nerve to explain this horrifying scenario further. "...any riders who feel the need to exit the boats and 'endanger' themselves by partaking in 'strenuous activity' on the platforms."

Ugh, so embarrassing. He was hoping Sonic wouldn't ask for more details.

He doesn't have to explain beyond that. Now he has one more reason not to go on that ride with Blaze, besides the risk of fire.

"Dude, seriously? You've gotta go in there and keep an eye on 'em? I've noticed some of the guys who have gone in there, and let's just say that they're not payin' you enough."

"I agree. Unfortunately, I'm not permitted to reveal myself, let alone ask them to stop. The park has told me it's for legal reasons, but I believe it has more to do with keeping its skeevy reputation intact. It brings in quite a bit of money, for obvious reasons."

Espio was admittedly enjoying Sonic's company, so he eased the conversation onward.

"I don't mind the job necessarily--the problem is more with the fact that I have no set goal. I can't collect useful information, ambush an opponent, or even move. It's a frustratingly passive and stationary duty."
