Open log: A wild Carnival Night Zone appears!

Who: Anybody bold enough to jump through a mysterious warp ring.
What: A giant carnival zone!
Where: In a pocket dimension, nearby island, or just AU, depending on how serious you want to take it.
When: Now?
Warnings: F for FUN!

 

Without notice or explanation, a giant, spinning gold ring had appeared at the edge of the island. Through the center one could see what looked like roller coasters, carnival games, and lots of balloons, among many other things. Timing a jump through the ring was tricky, but doable.

 

A mysterious spacial distortion obscured the area beyond the carnival. Anyone hoping to escape the mansion entirely would find it was hopeless through this warp ring. However, the entertainment value probably seemed tempting to anyone growing restless with nowhere to go. Why not grab a buddy and have some fun?

Great, what happened now? Another dimension encroaching on theirs AGAIN? She stood by the gates of the carnival, arms crossed and eyeing it curiously.

"Wave!" Jet shouted as he jogged up to her, quite out of breath. " *pant* Tha... that was a warp ring! We just jumped through a warp ring! But of all places, why did it take us to a carnival?"

He crossed his arms and took in the grandeur of the colorful lights against the dark night sky. It was much prettier to look at than the dreary sky back home, though he was sure it'd only seem that way in small doses.

"What do you make of it?"

Shantae was never averse to danger, or mystery, or excitement. Perhaps that's why she jumped into the mysterious warp ring without any qualms, and boy was she delighted with what she found on the other side.

"Oh my GOSH! This looks like FUN!" she declared, rubbing her hands together excitedly.

Oh, Eggman was scowling. Why was he scowling THIS time?

"Someone is RIPPING OFF MY GIMMICK!!" he bellowed angrily when he saw the carnival on the other side of the warp ring.

He's practically on the front of the cue right now, eager to go. Who wants to join him?

Like a patient mother, Rosalina was more interested in making sure her children were happy than actually participating herself. She chose to stay by the line, waiting while her Lumas lined up, squeaking excitedly about the roller coaster! They could hardly wait...!

"Ehm, Shantae, you ever been on one of these before?" Gordon asks as he's tugged by the hand into the roller coaster queue. He was more than happy to get on, himself, but now that he thinks about it, she might be biting off more than she can chew.

He didn't want to suppose anything, but he can hack an educated guess that there aren't many roller coasters back in her world.

Rock loved carnival games! And it wasn't just robotic reflexes that made him good at them and enjoy them, he had a lot of fun playing and testing his skills. He was currently at the target shooting range with an air rifle, pegging target cards like an ace.

Carnival games. Sure, why not? It gave Jet a chance to summon up enough guts to go on one of the big rides.

He stopped in front of a ring toss booth.

"Heh, seems easy enough," he said to himself. He didn't feel like turning to see if Wave was still following him or not. He kind of hoped she was but wasn't about to make it obvious.

The rows of carnival games were all tempting, but Gordon knew exactly where he wanted to go; the air rifle game.

"So... want to guess how many cards I can bullseye?" He says sidelong to Shantae.

Jet shrugged and scratched his beak anxiously.

"I guess. Uh... what kind of things?" he asked apprehensively.

He wished she'd just order something so he could go back to showing her up at the carnival games. He wasn't good at meaningful discussion. At all.

[This ride is quite possibly the most popular attraction outside the giant roller coaster. A boat built for two people floats harmlessly through a tunnel decorated with dim red lights and hearts. There may or may not be some platforms big enough to outstretch and make out on if someone's daring enough!]

Knuckles had a bad track record with mysterious amusement parks. He was definitely suspicious of this one... At least the others seemed to be having a good time, but he was on his guard the whole way. So much so that when Rouge dragged him off to a ride, he barely even noticed. He was ready for danger of any kind!

...When he finally took a look at the sign, his face turned red. Er, redder than usual. "...Uh."

He seemed to be coming out of his shell a little. It was reassuring. Rouge wasn't entirely sure he was anything besides a social derp, but she was glad that worry was snuffed out for good.

"Maybe. But you seemed to go along with it pretty easily," she teased. A bit of a skewed version of the facts, she admitted to herself, but she was trying to be lighthearted about the topic. It was becoming easier to goof off with him without being so false about it.

"I suppose if we want this to go anywhere, we should learn more about each other," she said, actively trying to change the subject. "I know you like to guard that giant emerald of yours. What do you do in your free time besides that boring job?"

So a genie and a physicist get on a boat...

"You know, I've never been on one of these rides before," Shantae said as she climbed into the small boat, scooting to the side to let Gordon in to join her. "Should be fun!" She smiled eagerly.

AGAIN AGAIN

Rouge blinked while her eyes adjusted to the light. What a buzzkill. But the mild discomfort was hardly overshadowed by the desire pulsing through her veins. She was a bit surprised when he started touching her the way he did, but she wasn't at all put off by it; only surprised at how fast he was moving.

"Mmm. I'd like that," she responded, reaching over to grab and hold his hand again. "...As long as you don't think we're moving too fast."

It was very easy to get lost in a moment like this one, she knew. But she had to remember he was a virgin and not necessarily on the same page with her. She couldn't go about her usual tactics and practices on him because he wasn't one of her flings. Not at all. What she was feeling for him was more than she'd felt for any of her previous partners, and frankly, she was surprised she wasn't MORE nervous than she was.

But the anxiety didn't stem from performance anxiety. Quite the contrary--she was afraid she'd botch it somehow. She was hoping her relationship with him would blossom into something magical, and the last thing it needed was to start things off on the wrong foot with an awkward sexual experience. So, when possible, she decided to let him call the shots and move at his own pace. She was patient enough. Now all she had to do was wait for the opportunity to say so tactfully without killing the mood.

When it was finally time for a break, Tails grabbed some snacks and joined his friends. But it wasn't until he had a moment alone with his big bro that Tails finally decided to ask him an important question. "Hey, Sonic? I wanna ask you something, but you've gotta promise not to laugh."

[This is one irritated-looking chameleon here right outside the Tunnel of Love. He's wearing a nametag. This can only mean he's employed here. Since he's not working the ride, he must be....security, if you know what I mean.

It seems Sonic has made the connection between Espio's nametag and his position here at the tunnel. He walks up in an uncharacteristic saunter, eyeing the luridly-lit ride Espio seems to be guarding.
